In the interim until F-150 Lightning arrives later this year, Ford has introduced a step towards electrification by offering a powerful Powerboost hybrid version of the F-150. This powertrain is a complete hybrid system that targets the best power and torque in its class. Ford engineers have advised it should have a total range of more than 1,100 kilometres on a single tank of gas in combination with the additional benefit of regenerative electrical power. Not to mention that it will be able to tow up to 12,000 pounds.

Design

In terms of style, the 2022 Ford F-150 is considered more of an evolution than a revolution. While the overall appearance of the new truck is more elegant, it is considered a more modern interpretation of the previous model. Ford calls this a "harder, more solid look." First impressions indicate that the wheel arches are larger than before, and the truck is a little wider overall.

The interior also receives significant modifications, including the possibility of an optional 12-inch central screen housing the latest generation SYNC 4A infotainment system. Ford’s SYNC 4A communications and entertainment system brings new levels of intelligence and twice the computing power of SYNC 3 to help make navigation, music, and connecting your vehicle to your smartphone faster and easier. With the addition of all-new cloud connectivity, SYNC 4A ensures drivers and passengers always have access to the latest information – from the closest restaurant to the nearest electric vehicle charge station!

Another interesting design/ergonomic feature “focuses” on the transmission lever, housed in the center console. Now it will be completely retractable and, once folded, leaves room for a sliding work table. And finally, the rear seats lift and can offer a lockable cargo space.

Technology and work

The 2022 Ford F-150 also has a long list of technology and tools to make work and user comfort easier. For example, the tailgate folds down and incorporates a work surface with a convenient ruler for the most common measurements.

Technology also serves safety since the 2022 F-150 will be the only truck in its class to offer true hands-free driving with Active Drive Assist. It will also provide class-specific intersection assistance, which will help prevent accidents when the driver makes a left turn. Active Drive Assist can automatically apply the brakes to avoid a collision.
