Range, Charging, and Power
There's two lithium battery options for F-150 Lightning. The standard-range battery provides a targeted EPA estimated range of 370km while the available extended-range battery offers a targeted range of 480km. Battery pack capacity has not been disclosed yet, but expect something along the lines of 115 kWh and 150 kWh respectively. Standard range is rated at 426hp, with extended rated at 563hp. Both configurations will have an equal torque figure of 775 lb-ft, as well as a dual-motor AWD setup.
Ford has charging covered when it comes to F-150 Lightning. Like all Ford electric vehicles, every series comes with the 32-amp Ford Mobile Charger which allows you to charge from a traditional 120V or 240V outlet. The extended-range battery comes standard with the 80-amp Ford Charge Station Pro - which allows a peak charging power of 19.2 kW enabled by the battery's dual onboard chargers which means a full charge overnight. All of this is backed by the largest public charging network in North America.
Suspension, Towing, and Storage
Unlike the standard F-150, which uses a live rear axle, the Lightning employs an independent rear suspension setup. Thanks to this change combined with a lower center of gravity, the Lightning should be one of the best-handling pickups. The F-150 Lightning will tow up to 10,000 pounds (4000 less than the highest gas-powered F-150) when equipped with the Extended Range battery, and it has a max payload of 2000 pounds with the smaller battery pack. Drivers can see how much they have loaded in the truck with Ford onboard scales which display on the touchscreen, and the estimated driving range when hauling and towing adjusts based on tongue weight. For storage, the Lightning comes in the SuperCrew configuration with a 5.5-foot box. The front trunk offers 14 cubic feet and can hold up to 400lbs of stuff, while also having four electric outlets and 2 USB ports in there, too.
Similar to the gasoline-powered F-150's, Lightning's interior will be equipped with large screens including a 12.0" digital gauge cluster and a 12.0" productivity infotainment screen which comes standard on XLT. When you opt for the Lariat and Platinum trims, the even larger 15.5" inch portrait touchscreen found on the Mach-E can be found inside Lightning. All trims will be standard with Ford SYNC4 and will feature ground-breaking technologies such as wireless app connectivity, Ford Co-Pilot 360 safety suite features, onboarding scales, Pro Trailer Backup Assist, Pro Trailer Hitch Assist, and much more.
