Platform and Powertrain
The Maverick is a unibody truck built on Ford’s C2 platform and shares much under the skin with the Bronco Sport and Escape. We all know how capable the Bronco Sport is, and we expect the Maverick to be similar. Crew-cab is the only available configuration and there are two powertrain options available. First and most exciting, is the fact that Maverick will be the first standard full-hybrid pickup in Canada with the 2.5L Inline-4/electric motor combo found in the Escape Hybrid, which sends 191hp to the front-wheels through a CVT. If you are looking for more power or all-wheel drive, an EcoBoost 2.0L turbocharged inline-4 found in the Bronco Sport Badlands is available. This engine produces 250hp and 277lb-ft and is paired to an eight-speed automatic transmission. Ground clearance is rated at 8.3 inches for FWD Hybrid models, and 8.6 inches for AWD EcoBoost models.
The off-road FX4 package is optional on AWD EcoBoost models, which gives the truck even more capabilities including all-terrain tires, revised rear suspension, higher capacity radiator, upgraded cooling fan, skid plates, exposed front tow hooks, a hitch, off-road drive modes and hill-descent control.

Towing, Hauling, and FlexBed Features
Whatever powertrain you choose in your Maverick, it will be able to haul 1500 pounds in its bed. Towing capacity depends on which powertrain you choose – both standard hybrid and EcoBoost can tow up to 2000 pounds. If you opt for the EcoBoost model, you can get the optional 4K Tow package for towing up to 4000 pounds. This adds a hitch with seven-pin connectors, a transmission oil cooler, upgraded radiator and cooling fan, shorter final drive ratio, and trailer brake controller.
Maverick’s FlexBed is 4.5-feet in length and features two opening positions. Open halfway by unclipping the support cables and hooking them onto the latch pins or open it completely for a 6-foot space, enough for most power toys. In addition, FlexBed is completely customizable to support Ford accessories like segmented storage, elevated floors, bike and kayak racks, and more. FlexBed uses eight standard tie-downs and cleats, built-in threaded holes, 12-anchor points, and slots stamped into the side to make this possible. But there’s more than just cargo solutions: power up with two 12-volt power sources wired to a 20-amp circuit as well as two optional 110-volt 400-watt outlets – one in the FlexBed and the other in the cab.

Interior Features
Maverick’s cabin will be just as useful as FlexBed – with the Ford FITS (Ford Integrated Tether System) slots in the back-seat area. This features cupholders, garbage bins, grocery-bag hooks, and storage dividers. Ford is also working to publish the slot geometry so owners can 3D print their own FITS accessories! How cool is that? The rest of the cabin is like Bronco Sport, using durable cloth and synthetic leathers that are designed to be easy to clean and wipe down.
The 8-inch SYNC 3 touchscreen with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and FordPass Connect Wi-Fi is standard, as well as Ford’s Co-Pilot 360 system. This includes the suite of safety features such as automatic emergency braking, automatic high-beam assist, and a rear-view camera as standard. Other available safety features include Blind Spot Information System, Lane-Keep System, Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop-and-Go and Lane Centering, and Evasive Steering Assist.
