Grant Schubert

Sales Consultant & Donnelly Custom Specialist

After spending my entire childhood in Ottawa and graduating from Hillcrest High School in 2008, I moved to Hamilton to attend McMaster University, where I thoroughly enjoyed studying Sociology. When I moved back to Ottawa I heard Donnelly's was looking for a lot attendant. Working on the lot outside all the time, with a large group of people in a selling environment was a lot of fun, and I found it very rewarding. Not only did it teach me to manage my time better and become very organized, but I got to drive some very nice vehicles! In late 2011 I was promoted and asked to launch the Donnelly accessories department as I love customizing trucks and cars! It also included assisting customers with managing the technology on their vehicles. This interaction with customers was wonderful and I really enjoyed watching them leave happy. In 2012 I moved into the sales department and have been enjoying myself ever since. I have maintained my love of customization and am now the Custom Brand and Accessory Champion. I also have a Youtube page where I showcase those custom vehicles, online test drives and other weekly specials. When I am not at work you can find me travelling the world, mountain biking, playing hockey, or just hanging out with family and friends.

Service Manager

For over 8 years I worked in the fast food industry, serving customers and opening new stores. It was fast paced, and working with the public was a lot of fun, however I realized how much Ottawa meant to me when I turned down the promotion A&W offered me in Toronto. Instead, I found a career working with the public at Donnelly's, another fast paced business. There is no better feeling than helping a good customer with their car, and making their day a good one. When I'm out of the dealership you can find me working out at the gym, eating at one of the great Italian restaurants around town, or cheering GO SENS GO. My other great passion is my grandchildren; I can't believe I'm old enough to have them, but they make me smile every day

Parts Manager

Right out of school and working odd jobs, I always loved cars. My passion for a 1968 Mustang that I was rebuilding meant I was always buying parts and had been to every dealership. In 1985 while I was buying parts at Donnelly I asked if they were hiring. I wasn't a parts expert, but I knew just enough to be dangerous, and I was able to secure a position in the parts department. My craze over cars went on until my late 20's, and by that time I realized that the structure of the parts department was engrained in me and I've stayed with it ever since. The constant challenge is to have the right part, at the right time, for the right price, and I thoroughly enjoy the logistics involved in making this happen. My passion for adventure finds me mountain bike racing and riding my bike to work most days in the summer and XC skiing in Gatineau Park in the winter. I have recently attained my "Shodan" 1st degree black belt in Karate.

Assistant Service Manager

Born and raised in Ottawa, Barrhaven more specifically, I graduated from Mother Theresa High school. I now raise my family in the same community. I completed the General Motors Automotive Service Program at Algonquin College and worked as a mechanic for 12 years, including several years with Donnelly's' GM store, followed by a few more years at the Ford store. A few years ago, an opportunity presented itself in the service department as an advisor at our Ford store, and I found I really enjoyed the interaction with customers. Recently, I was promoted to Assistant Service Manager here. As of 2021 I have been with Donnelly's for 13 years in total. I love interacting with our staff and customers daily and pride myself on creating a positive experience for all. In my spare time, I love to golf, workout and spend time with my two girls.

Technician/Suspension Specialist

My family immigrated to Canada from Central Italy in 1967. I am proud to serve Donnelly Ford customers in both English and Italian. I started my automotive apprenticeship here in Ottawa (my hometown) in 1985. I moved to Edmonton Alberta, the truck capital of Canada, where I finished my apprenticeship. After 4 great years of working on trucks out west I grew homesick and missed my family so I moved back to Ottawa. In 1998 I lucked out and landed a technician's position with Donnelly Sunrise Pontiac Buick GMC. It was the best move of my life. I earned the designation of GM Grand Master Technician and purchased a home with my family, and laid down permanent roots in Ottawa. With General Motors transition, the GM dealership closed but Donnelly's also had a Ford dealership where I moved to and never looked back. I quickly attained the designation of Ford Senior Master Technician. When Donnelly Ford Custom was launched I had a choice to join and make a difference. With a lot of hard work and some mistakes along the way, we grew into the Custom giant we are today in Ottawa with what I believe to be the nicest Custom lineup in Eastern Ontario. I have a huge passion for custom vehicles and believe I make a difference in my workplace. I take pride in what I build and take the finished product very personally. I feel good when our clients pick up their custom vehicle, knowing they drive away happy and smiling... it's all I need to feel satisfied in my work. I am very proud to be part of the Donnelly team and will be here for many years to come. In my spare time I enjoy maintaining and upgrading my home and spending time with my wife and sons. When the kids are not around I enjoy playing Call of Duty. I am always looking for a challenge and the chance to "wow" our customers.
